Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has announced that in the next two years, Tripura is set to emerge as one of India’s premier tourist destinations, with foreign tourist arrivals steadily increasing each year.

The Minister made these remarks while attending the foundation stone laying ceremony for the development of the Tripura Heritage Village & Sangeet Experience under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 initiative, along with the inauguration of an amusement park at Sachindranagar, Jirania in West Tripura.

Since the formation of the current government, he said, significant efforts have been underway to boost the state’s tourism sector.

“We are proudly collaborating with the Government of India and the Asian Development Bank, who have invested substantial funds across various parts of the state. Today, in Sachindranagar, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha laid the foundation stone for the Tripura Heritage Village & Sangeet Experience under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 and an amusement park funded by SIDBI and the Government of India,” he stated.

Highlighting the state’s tourism potential, the Minister said, “We firmly believe that Tripura will become a major tourism hub not only in the North East but across the country. Our focus has been to showcase the state to visitors from India and abroad while developing modern infrastructure in every corner of Tripura.”

He added, “The Tourism Department, in partnership with the Government of India and other agencies, is working on several projects across the state. Within the next two years, these initiatives will be completed, establishing Tripura as a top tourist destination. Currently, Tripura ranks second in foreign tourist arrivals in the North East, after Sikkim, which is very encouraging. Domestic tourism is also growing rapidly.”
