In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the Tripura Police have arrested two individuals involved in drug trafficking in Sepahijala District.
According to Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of the Sonamura Police Station, one of the arrests was linked to illegal drug activities in the region.
“The operation was conducted jointly with the Yatrapur Police. Aminul Islam, 36, a resident of Surya Nagar, Sonapur, under the jurisdiction of Sonamura Police Station, has been taken into custody and sent to court, with police remand sought for further investigation. During questioning, Aminul provided details about several other drug traffickers operating under the areas covered by Sonamura and Jatrapur police stations. Verification of these leads is currently underway by intelligence units, and further arrests are expected based on the evidence gathered,” Das said.
In a separate but related action, Subrata Nama, 24, residing at Manowar Tila, Bhabanipur, under Jatrapur Police Station, was also apprehended as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district.
Authorities have emphasized that these arrests are part of a wider campaign to curb drug trafficking in Sepahijala District.
