Acting on a tip-off, police from Tripura Police of Ambassa Police Station conducted a raid at the Naka point near Betbagan, Ambassa, and recovered a large quantity of dry ganja from a goods vehicle.

The operation was led by Ambassa Police Station’s Second Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jay Thapa. During the naka checking, a goods vehicle bearing registration number TR-01-AP-1631 was stopped for inspection. As the police began searching the vehicle, the driver took advantage of the situation and fled from the spot.

Upon thorough search, the police recovered 79 packets of dry ganja from the vehicle. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is around Rs 15 lakh.

Speaking to the media, Second OC Jay Thapa stated that the police had prior information about narcotic substances being transported in the vehicle. Based on that information, the vehicle was searched, leading to the recovery of the ganja. However, the driver managed to escape, and police have launched an investigation to identify and arrest him.

Notably, Ambassa Police have achieved success in three anti-drug operations within a week, earning appreciation from the local residents of Ambassa, who expressed happiness over the police’s continued efforts against drug trafficking.
