With Republic Day 2026 approaching, the Tripura Police have rolled out comprehensive security measures across the state, Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar said on Tuesday.
The DGP informed that special security arrangements have been made at all sensitive and vulnerable locations. Additional police personnel will be deployed at key venues hosting major Republic Day functions to prevent any untoward incidents.
“All district-level police officers, including Superintendents of Police, Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Officers-in-Charge, and staff at police stations, have been placed on alert,” Dhankar said. He added that the entire police force is working in coordination to ensure strict vigilance throughout the celebrations.
According to the DGP, the state police are working closely with the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and central intelligence agencies. Several coordination meetings have already taken place, and a well-defined action plan has been prepared to ensure a peaceful and incident-free Republic Day.
“Robust security arrangements have been deployed statewide. The police are fully prepared to carry out their responsibilities efficiently,” Dhankar said.
The police administration has also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and remain vigilant during the national celebrations.
