The Officer‑in‑Charge (OC) of Shilachhari Police Station of Gomati District, Inspector Lakhbir Jamatia, has been temporarily suspended from service for gross negligence in duty and failing to comply with directives of the Supreme Court, officials said on Sunday.

According to an order issued by the Establishment Branch of the Tripura Police Headquarters, a departmental inquiry under the provisions of the Central Civil Services (CCS) Rules, 1965, has been initiated against Jamatia in connection with a disciplinary matter.

In view of this, authorities decided to place him on immediate suspension pending the inquiry. During the period of suspension, his headquarters has been fixed at the office of the Superintendent of Police, Gomati District, the order stated.

The directive also specifies that Jamatia cannot leave the headquarters without prior permission and will continue to receive subsistence allowance as per rules during the suspension period.
