In a major crackdown on narcotics, Tripura police spearheaded a massive operation that led to the destruction of approximately 12 lakh cannabis plants with an estimated street value of Rs 50 crore.
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint force of 500 personnel from the District Police, Tripura State Rifles, CRPF, and Forest Department raided 120 plots across the remote, forested areas of Sepahijala district. The six-hour operation, codenamed "Mega Cannabis Plants Destruction Drive," targeted cultivations in villages like Sutarmura, Toktumadum, and Chitta Rambari.
Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbaram stated that the coordinated effort deals a significant blow to drug trafficking networks in the region.
