Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday stated that the state has secured the top position nationwide in the Mann Ki Baat program.
He noted that in the latest episode, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted innovative efforts to provide drinking water to underprivileged communities. Dr. Saha expressed optimism that Tripura will soon achieve 100% coverage under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while attending the 132nd episode of Mann Ki Baat at Barajala, near Agartala.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Saha said, “We gathered together at Booth No. 22 in Barajala for a program organized by the Kisan Morcha. Today’s Mann Ki Baat benefited us in two important ways. Firstly, the Prime Minister mentioned how innovative approaches have ensured access to drinking water in Vhangmun, Jampui Hills, which is a proud moment for us. Earlier, people there faced significant hardship in accessing water. Secondly, the Prime Minister’s free electricity scheme is helping people, particularly refugees in rural areas. With electricity, children can now study better, and agriculture is also improving.”
He further added that the Prime Minister receives letters from across the country on various important issues, which are then shared with the nation through the program.
“These letters bring attention to matters we might not have known about earlier. The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of health awareness, especially among the youth—encouraging reduced oil consumption and regular exercise. He covered several topics including fisheries, agriculture, and sports, all of which inspire us. Today, he specifically highlighted two issues related to Tripura,” Dr. Saha said.
Expressing gratitude to the attendees, he remarked, “Although Tripura is a small state, it has maintained the top position in the Mann Ki Baat program. The people here have deep respect for the Prime Minister. He also spoke about issues like fuel, LPG, and the ongoing situation in West Asia. India’s strong diplomatic ties with countries like Iran, Israel, the United States, and Gulf nations make us feel secure under his leadership.”
Dr. Saha also spoke about the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state. He mentioned that when the current government took office in 2018, the success rate was just 3%, which has now increased to around 86%.
“Due to limited water sources in several areas, innovative solutions are necessary. We are confident of achieving 100% success in the Jal Jeevan Mission in the near future,” he said.
The event was also attended by Chief Whip of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Kalyani Saha Roy, Mann Ki Baat in-charge for Tripura Pradesh Ratan Ghosh, former MLA Dr. Dilip Das, along with other senior leaders and party workers.
