The Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Tripura (IPFT) has officially announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, scheduled for 2026.
The list, released from the party’s headquarters in Agartala, includes nine candidates who will contest from various Scheduled Tribe (ST) reserved constituencies across the state.
The announcement was made through an official notification signed by the party’s General Secretary, Swapan Debbarma.
According to the notification, the selected candidates and their constituencies are:
- Damchhara–Jampui (ST): Udar Ram Reang
- Maharani–Teliamura (ST): Dhananjoy Reang
- Ramchandraghat (ST): Swapan Debbarma
- Simna–Tamakari (ST): Rajendra Debbarma
- Amtali–Golaghati (ST): Bikash Debbarma
- Ampinagar (ST): Jashodharani Jamatia
- Raima Valley (ST): Charan Basi Tripura
- Nutan Bazar–Malbasa (ST): Pranab Tripura
- Birchandranagar–Kalsi (ST): Jitiram Tripura
With this first list, IPFT has signaled its early preparation and intent to strengthen its presence in the autonomous district council. The party is expected to release additional candidate lists in the coming days.
Political observers note that the selection reflects a mix of experienced leaders and grassroots representatives, indicating the party’s focus on both continuity and local engagement.
The TTAADC elections are considered crucial for regional parties like IPFT, which advocate for the rights and development of indigenous communities in Tripura.
