In a significant move to strengthen human resources for the industrial sector, the Department of Skill Development has launched specialized training programs in advanced technologies for young men and women. This initiative aims to accelerate Tripura’s progress in the digital economy.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Department of Skill Development, I Hub Foundation for Robotics (IHFC), and the Technology Innovation Hub of the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi). The MoU was formally inked on 9 February 2026 at an inaugural event at NIT Agartala, in the presence of Prof. Rangan Banerjee of IIT Delhi and Kiran Gitya, Secretary of the State Department of Industries and Commerce.

Under this initiative, a total of 148 trainees are currently undergoing training at NIT Agartala and the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Agartala. The program focuses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for three batches and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML) for one batch, aligning with the latest demands of the digital sector.

The training follows a blended learning approach, combining classroom sessions, hands-on laboratory practice, and online lectures delivered by IIT Delhi professors. Special domain experts from IIT Delhi are conducting sessions to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical experience.

To ensure a smooth training experience, the Department of Skill Development has arranged accommodation for participants in Durjoynagar, Agartala, along with transportation to and from the training centers. Upon completion, trainees will receive joint certificates from the Department of Skill Development and IIT Delhi. Additionally, top-performing trainees will have the opportunity to undertake internships at IIT Delhi.

The Department’s Director, Pradeep K, shared this update in a press release, highlighting the program’s role in creating a skilled workforce for the state’s growing digital economy.
