Tripura is set to witness a major boost in healthcare education as the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, has sanctioned ₹140 crore for establishing an Ayurveda Medical College and a Homoeopathy Medical College in the state.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha announced the development today, stating that the initiative will significantly strengthen Tripura’s medical education infrastructure and expand alternative medicine services for citizens.

A high-level meeting was convened to finalise the roadmap for the two upcoming institutions. Officials discussed land allocation, infrastructure planning, faculty recruitment, and other preparatory measures to ensure the colleges can begin functioning from the next academic session.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda, and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH Prataprao Yadav for their continued support toward improving the healthcare ecosystem in Tripura.

With these new colleges, Tripura aims to create more opportunities for students seeking education in traditional medicine while expanding access to Ayurveda and Homoeopathy services across the state.
