The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections have been rescheduled to April 12, 2026, following a unanimous decision by the Tripura Legislative Assembly to advance the polling date.

Earlier, the Tripura State Election Commission had announced April 13 as the polling date during a press conference on March 17. However, since Gariya Puja, Biju, and Buisu—major festivals celebrated by the state’s tribal communities—fall on that day, political parties, ministers, MLAs, and various NGOs requested the Commission to reconsider the schedule.

The State Election Commission noted that the festivals are widely observed in many TTAADC areas, and changing the date would help ensure greater participation from all communities.

The issue was also discussed during the Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, after which a formal proposal was submitted to move the election to April 12. The Commission accepted the proposal, while all other aspects of the election schedule announced on March 17 will remain unchanged.

The TTAADC elections are now officially set for April 12, 2026.
