The Tripura State Election Commission has announced the schedule for finalising polling stations for the upcoming 2026 General Election to Urban Local Bodies in the state.
As per a notification issued by State Election Commissioner Dr. P.K. Chakravarty, the draft list of polling stations will be published on September 17, 2026.
Following the release of the draft list, citizens and other stakeholders will have the opportunity to submit claims, objections or suggestions regarding the proposed polling stations. The deadline for filing such claims and objections has been fixed for September 21.
The Election Commission has scheduled the disposal of the claims and objections on September 23, after which the final list of polling stations will be published on September 25, 2026.
The schedule has been issued under Rule 3 of the Tripura Municipalities (Conduct of Election) Rules, 1995. The notification states that the District Municipal Election Officers, who are also the District Magistrates of the respective districts, will publish the polling station lists for the wards of the municipalities in accordance with Rule 7 of the Tripura Municipalities (Registration of Electors) Rules, 1995.
The concerned authorities in North Tripura, Unakoti, Dhalai, Khowai, West Tripura, Sepahijala, Gomati and South Tripura have been informed about the schedule. The relevant Sub-Divisional Election Authorities have also been directed to take necessary steps.
Meanwhile, the Director of the General Administration (Printing & Stationery) Department has been requested to arrange publication of the notification in an extraordinary issue of the Tripura Gazette.
The announcement marks another step in the preparations for the forthcoming Urban Local Body elections in Tripura.
