Counting of votes for the Tripura Village Committee elections will begin at 8 am on Monday, with the State Election Commission making elaborate security arrangements across the state to ensure a peaceful and smooth counting process.
Tripura State Election Commission Secretary Anurag Sen said on Sunday that a total of 45 counting centres have been set up across 44 blocks. While each block will generally have one counting hall, one block will have two separate halls due to the larger number of seats.
Security has been significantly strengthened at all counting centres, with a three-tier security system in place. The arrangements include frisking, strict access control and regulated entry to the counting premises.
Personnel from the Tripura Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and BSF will be deployed at the counting centres. Additional security personnel will also be positioned at strategic locations across the state to monitor the post-poll situation and prevent any untoward incident.
The State Election Commission has issued necessary instructions to ensure that the counting process is conducted in a transparent, orderly and peaceful manner.
“We are hopeful that with the cooperation of everyone, the counting process and the entire exercise will be completed smoothly,” Sen said.
The counting will decide the outcome of the recently concluded Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), with political parties and candidates eagerly awaiting the results.
