The temple town of Udupi in coastal Karnataka is all set to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, with the city decorated in saffron hues and BJP flags. Anticipating massive crowds, authorities have put extensive security arrangements in place.
According to official updates, PM Modi will land at Mangaluru International Airport at 10:30 a.m. in a special flight and proceed to Udupi by Army helicopter, arriving ahead of schedule at around 10:55 a.m.
A roadshow has been planned as part of his visit, featuring cultural teams and flower showers along the route. Three viewing points have been created for him to witness local performances, and shops within a five-kilometre radius have been temporarily closed.
Upon reaching Sri Krishna Matha via Rathabeedi, the Prime Minister will first have darshan of Lord Krishna through the Kanakana Kindi. He will inaugurate the Golden Kanakana Kindi, visit the Kanakadasa shrine, perform tirtha prokshane at the Madhva Sarovara, and then have darshan inside the Matha. He will also inaugurate the Golden Tirtha Mantapa, meet seers of the Ashta Mutts, receive prasada, and visit the Geeta Mandira before arriving at the Laksha Kantha Parayana platform at 12:10 p.m.
Ahead of his visit, PM Modi said he felt honoured to participate in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana programme in Udupi, calling Sri Krishna Matha a symbol of deep cultural and spiritual heritage. Established more than 800 years ago by Madhvacharya, the Matha remains a prominent centre of the Dvaita school of Vedanta.
The Prime Minister will take part in the grand Gita chanting event where over one lakh people—including students, scholars, monks, and devotees—will recite verses of the Bhagavad Gita together. He is also scheduled to address the gathering.
Before visiting the Matha, Modi will hold a 20-minute roadshow from Bannanje to Kalsanka.
To ensure safety and smooth movement, more than 3,000 police personnel have been deployed across Udupi. Two security barricade layers have been set up—one exclusively for police and one for the public. The deployment includes 10 SPs, 27 DySPs, 49 inspectors, 127 sub-inspectors, 232 ASIs, 1,608 constables, 39 women officers, six KSRP platoons, and six Quick Response Teams.
