Tripura Police today early morning recovered the body of an unidentified person from the pond of a newly constructed park near Maharajganj market. Locals first noticed the floating body and alerted authorities.

Following the report, police from East Agartala Police Station and Golbazar Outpost rushed to the scene.

Subrata Debnath, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of East Agartala Police Station , stated that the body appears to have been in the water for several days. The corpse has been recovered and sent to the local hospital for post-mortem examination.

OC Debnath further mentioned that efforts are underway to identify the deceased. No visible injuries were observed on the body, but a tattoo reading “Sourav” was found on the hand. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report.

The incident has created a stir in the locality, and police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
