Years have passed, governments have changed and elected representatives have come and gone, but residents of the Simna-Rabicharan area under Hejamara block of Mohanpur subdivision of Tripura's west district say their basic connectivity problems remain unchanged.

Residents of Subal Singh Rabicharan Para alleged that the absence of a proper road and bridge has forced them to cross a local river under dangerous conditions. Students, daily commuters and other residents are often compelled to wade through the river to reach their destinations. In emergencies, even critically ill patients reportedly face serious difficulties while being taken across.

The situation becomes more hazardous during the monsoon, when the river swells and the current becomes stronger. Locals said the poor connectivity also creates major problems for emergency services, with ambulances and fire tenders unable to reach the area conveniently.

According to residents, they have repeatedly raised the issue with the administration as well as elected representatives, including the local MLA and MDC. While assurances of a permanent solution have reportedly been made on several occasions, villagers claim that no concrete work has been undertaken so far.

“Representatives and governments have changed, but our suffering has not,” residents said, expressing disappointment over what they described as years of assurances without visible action.

The villagers have now renewed their demand for the construction of a proper approach road and a permanent bridge over the river. They also urged the authorities to make immediate arrangements to improve emergency access to the area.

Residents said they hope the administration will take the issue seriously and initiate construction work at the earliest, bringing an end to their long-standing struggle for safe and reliable connectivity.
