Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that under the Poshan Abhiyan, around 11,130 smartphones have been provided to Anganwadi workers to ensure better monitoring and implementation of nutrition-related schemes. 

He informed that the Poshan Tracker app will be installed in these smartphones to capture and share real-time data of daily activities.

The Chief Minister said this while virtually inaugurating 14 development projects and laying the foundation stone for five 100-seated Working Women’s Hostels and a 50-seated Boys’ Hostel of DIET at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan. Projects worth about Rs 61 crore were inaugurated and foundation stones laid during the event.

Dr. Saha added that the state government is giving special emphasis on infrastructure development, for which about Rs 7,000 crore have been allocated in the budget. Financial sanction has also been received for setting up two more one-stop centers in Kailashahar and Agartala.

Highlighting welfare measures, the Chief Minister informed that 14,575 Divyangjans are receiving a monthly social allowance of Rs 2,000, while in 2024-25, about 4,286 children have been provided sponsorship of Rs 4,000 per month. A total of 101 children have been given rehabilitation grants of Rs 50,000 each for social reintegration, and 940 children have been sheltered across 44 child care homes in eight districts.

The Chief Minister further announced that 10 Working Women’s Hostels will be set up across the state. “Out of these, the foundation stone for five hostels has been laid today. About Rs 114 crore have been approved for this project, with each hostel costing Rs 11.40 crore. These hostels will have gyms, entertainment centers, sports courts, 24-hour security, and child care facilities,” he said.

Dr. Saha also pointed out that the Tripura government has prepared a roadmap for Viksit Bharat@2047 as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Our state ranks 5th in the country and 1st among the North Eastern states in this regard,” he stated.

He informed that 46 Anganwadi centers have been set up under the DoNER Ministry and NESIDS, aiming to provide nutrition, health, and pre-primary education. Aftercare homes for young women aged 18–21 are also being developed under the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, offering education, vocational training, life skills, and psychological support to make them self-reliant.

Along with this, 41,694 disability identity cards have been issued, while 1,402 Anganwadi workers and 1,615 helpers have been appointed since April 2023 to strengthen Anganwadi management.

Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Secretary Tapas Roy, Director T.K. Das, and other senior officials were present at the event.
