75-Year-Old Man Assaulted for Protesting Attack on BSF Personnel in Udaipur

Tension gripped the Murapara area under the Matarbari Assembly constituency in Udaipur subdivision after a 75-year-old man was allegedly assaulted for protesting against the attack on BSF personnel at Ashabari in Boxanagar. The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday night.

The victim, identified as Makhan Das (75), has alleged that Alfu Mia and his sons launched a sudden attack on him following an earlier altercation over remarks concerning Boxanagar MLA Tofazzal Hossain.

According to details, on Tuesday morning, a group of people were discussing the recent attack on BSF personnel at Ashabari in Boxanagar at a local tea stall in Murapara. During the discussion, some allegedly made objectionable remarks against Boxanagar MLA Tofazzal Hossain. Makhan Das, a local resident, reportedly objected to the remarks, stating that the MLA should not be linked to the attack on BSF personnel as he had no connection with the incident.

His objection allegedly led to a heated argument with Alfu Mia, who subsequently left the place in an angry mood.

Later that night, while returning home after shopping at Jamjuri Bazar, Makhan Das was allegedly intercepted near the Murapara Panchayat office by Alfu Mia and his sons, who reportedly attacked him. The elderly man sustained injuries in the assault. Hearing his cries for help, local residents rushed towards the spot, following which the accused allegedly fled.

Local residents subsequently rescued the injured man and took him to Gomati District Hospital, where doctors provided initial treatment. He was discharged from the hospital after receiving medical attention.

Makhan Das has alleged that the attack was pre-planned and carried out in retaliation for his protest against the assault on BSF personnel at Ashabari. He has stated that he will lodge a police complaint at Kakraban Police Station, demanding legal action against Alfu Mia and his sons.

The alleged assault on a 75-year-old man in public has triggered concern and tension in the locality. Residents are now awaiting police intervention and a proper investigation into the incident.
