In a swift and strategic response to the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives—including one Nepali national—India has launched Operation Sindoor, the Ministry of Defence announced on Wednesday wee hours.
The operation, described as a "precise and restrained" military action, targeted nine terrorist infrastructure sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The Ministry emphasized that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted, underscoring India's calibrated and non-escalatory approach to counter-terrorism.
"Focused strikes were carried out to neutralize the roots of cross-border terror planning. This action demonstrates India's firm resolve to hold the perpetrators accountable, without escalating the situation unnecessarily," the official statement read.
According to defence sources, the targets included known training camps, launch pads, and logistical hubs used by terror outfits operating across the Line of Control.
A detailed media briefing on Operation Sindoor is expected later today, where more specifics of the operation and its outcomes will be shared.
