Tripura BJP MLA Abhishek Debroy formally assumed office as the new state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura on Friday, marking a key organisational change aimed at expanding the party’s base at the grassroots level. The charge-taking ceremony was held at the party headquarters in Agartala, attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha along with outgoing state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee.
Speaking after taking over, Debroy said his immediate priority would be to strengthen the party’s presence at the booth and village levels and ensure that the ideology of the BJP reaches every section of society, especially the “last person” in the line of delivery. He stressed that organisational discipline and continuous engagement with workers would be central to his leadership approach.
He further said he would work in close coordination with both senior leaders and young party cadres, ensuring that experience and fresh energy work together for the party’s growth. Debroy added that greater emphasis would be placed on mobilisation, communication, and strengthening internal structures across constituencies, including Matabari Assembly Constituency.
Addressing questions on challenges ahead, the newly appointed president said he does not foresee immediate obstacles, noting his long experience as a grassroots worker. He added that any future difficulties would be addressed collectively with support from the organisation and party workers.
Reiterating his commitment, Debroy said the party would focus on unity, organisational discipline, and expanding outreach programmes across rural and urban areas in the coming months. He also urged cooperation from all party workers and leaders.
