Exuding strong confidence ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is “100 percent sure of victory” as it gears up to contest all 28 seats independently.
The announcement followed a crucial BJP core committee meeting held at the state party headquarters, which lasted for nearly three hours. The बैठक was attended by top party leadership, including state president Rajib Bhattacharya, senior ministers, former MPs, and key Janajati leaders, reflecting the strategic importance the party attaches to the upcoming polls.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Dr. Saha confirmed that the party has finalized its list of 28 candidates—one for each seat in the TTAADC. “We have sent the list to the central leadership for approval. Once it receives the green signal from Delhi, the names will be officially घोषित tomorrow,” he stated.
Taking a firm political stance, the Chief Minister clarified that BJP will go solo in the ADC elections, positioning itself as a strong विपक्ष force in the council. “In the ADC, BJP is not part of any alliance. As the opposition, it is our responsibility to present a credible and decisive alternative, and we are fully prepared for that challenge,” he said.
On the developments within alliance partners, Dr. Saha expressed measured concern over IPFT’s unilateral declaration of candidates. “We are in touch with them and discussions are ongoing to understand their move. Dialogue remains open,” he added, signaling room for political negotiation.
Responding to Tipra Motha’s decision to contest independently despite being part of the ruling coalition in the state, Dr. Saha maintained a diplomatic tone. “Every party has its own aspirations. While discussions with Tipra Motha were held extensively, they will field their candidates and so will we. A healthy democratic contest should take place,” he remarked.
Reiterating BJP’s electoral readiness and confidence, the Chief Minister concluded, “We are fully prepared, strategically aligned, and confident of securing a decisive mandate in all 28 seats.”
With political alignments shifting and multiple parties entering the fray independently, the TTAADC elections are set to witness a high-stakes and competitive battle, with BJP aiming to establish a dominant foothold in the tribal council.
