Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha stated that voters in West Bengal have shown strong support for the Bharatiya Janata Party during the first phase of elections, and expressed confidence that continued support would lead to political change in the state.
He made these remarks while addressing a large public gathering in support of the BJP candidate for the Kaliganj Assembly constituency at Matiari Ramsita Maidan in West Bengal.
Dr. Saha said he had visited the state with the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths located in Tripura. He added that he believed the BJP candidate would carry forward the blessings of the deity while reaching out to voters across households.
He also remarked that the current political situation in West Bengal reflects a weakening of the opposition’s influence, and claimed that governance issues have affected development in the state. According to him, West Bengal once had a strong industrial base, but has since seen a decline in industries and employment opportunities, leading many residents to seek work elsewhere.
Referring to national security and border issues, he mentioned concerns over infiltration and said the Centre has sought cooperation from the state government regarding border fencing, which he claimed had not been fully provided.
Dr. Saha further expressed confidence that the BJP would continue to receive strong voter support in subsequent phases of the election, urging people to vote freely and support the party’s “lotus” symbol on the EVMs.
