Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that the Centre has decided that wherever the BSF is deployed, the government will build smart borders there.
Under a four-pronged security strategy, involving the local administration, leveraging technology, and strengthening personnel deployment, the government will make the borders impregnable.
Addressing a programme at the Border Out Post (BOP) in Lankamura of West district, he said the Smart Border project is in its final stage to ensure a robust security grid along India's international borders.
The Union Minister said that today is the death anniversary of the second Sarsanghchalak of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the revered Guruji.
“Some people do not care for fame even after accomplishing the greatest of tasks. The revered Guruji was one such person. He worked throughout his life with infinite patience, unparalleled diligence, and devotion to the motherland.
He prepared lakhs and lakhs of workers across the country who take pride in the nation's prosperity, security, culture, self-respect, history, and language. He gave the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh a powerful form. There are many workers like me who have never seen Guruji, but his messages are as important today as they were in his time.
Our Prime Minister has initiated several measures simultaneously to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, explore ways to produce eco-friendly electricity, and minimise energy consumption. Numerous initiatives have been undertaken together for these purposes. In a way, India's model was accepted at the Paris Conference as an ideal model,” said the Union Home Minister.
Shah said that the BSF is responsible for securing both the Pakistan and Bangladesh borders, and each frontier presents its own distinct challenges.
“In some places, there is the issue of drug trafficking; in others, human trafficking; in some, arms smuggling; and elsewhere, the smuggling of drugs and counterfeit currency. Each border has its own unique set of problems.
We have decided that wherever the BSF is deployed, we will build smart borders there. Under a four-pronged security strategy, by involving the local administration, leveraging technology, and strengthening personnel deployment, we will make the borders impregnable.
I always say that if even a single tube light installed in any accommodation enhances the convenience of my border guards, I am ready to devote time to it. With the same spirit, we have remained concerned about the facilities and security of the soldiers protecting our borders,” said Shah.
He said that every time he visits a BSF camp, he says that the people of the country, and especially the Home Minister of India, are able to sleep at night because the border guards stay awake to protect the nation.
“This is a very big responsibility. The people of the country view it with great respect. The Ministry of Home Affairs also regards this dedicated spirit with respect,” he added.
