Community health guides who were recently laid off took to the streets on Monday, staging a mass protest near the Circuit House. The protesters also submitted a deputation to the Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, according to the organizers.

The protesters allege that for years, these community health guides have been delivering government welfare health services directly to rural households. Around 3,000 workers across the state were associated with this project.

They claim that a government notification issued on November 1, 2025, abruptly terminated their employment. Many of the affected employees are over 60 years old, and they allege that no retirement benefits or social security measures have been provided.

The protesters are demanding reinstatement of the laid-off staff and the provision of pension or social security for those already dismissed. They have also warned of a larger movement in the coming days if their demands are not met.
