The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM), the main opposition party in Tripura, on Thursday began its state committee meeting in Agartala to review organizational matters and assess the current political landscape, with special emphasis on the recently concluded Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections and the forthcoming Village Committee polls.

The meeting was presided over by CPIM Tripura State Secretary and Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury and attended by the party's General Secretary M.A. Baby, along with senior leaders and state committee members.

Speaking to reporters before the meeting, Chaudhury said the gathering forms part of the party's regular organizational process. He stated that delegates would discuss a broad range of issues, including national and international developments, the political situation in Tripura, and the party's performance in the TTAADC elections.

He further noted that the upcoming Village Committee elections would be an important item on the agenda, and discussions would help the party determine its future organizational and political strategies.

Several senior CPIM leaders, including Polit Bureau members Md. Salim and Sramik Bhattacharya, former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, and other state committee members, participated in the deliberations.

CPIM General Secretary M.A. Baby said the meeting would continue as scheduled and that details of the decisions and resolutions adopted would be shared with the media after the discussions conclude.

Party leaders are expected to evaluate recent electoral outcomes, strengthen grassroots organizational activities, and formulate plans for future political and local body elections across the state.
