Serious concerns are being raised over the deteriorating healthcare services at Gomati District Hospital, as patients and their families allege that the hospital’s medical infrastructure has virtually collapsed despite repeated claims by the administration of improved healthcare facilities.
The most alarming issue is the complete shutdown of the hospital’s CT scan services for the past eight days. According to sources, the essential diagnostic facility has remained non-functional since May 2, causing immense hardship for patients arriving from distant areas seeking treatment.
The disruption has particularly affected accident victims and critically ill patients, as doctors are reportedly being forced to refer them to other medical institutions for necessary scans and treatment. This has increased both financial burden and health risks for many families.
Hospital sources stated that the CT scan unit is operated by a private agency named “Sanjeevani.” However, patients and their relatives have long expressed dissatisfaction with the agency’s services. Allegations suggest that the facility is frequently shut down citing reasons such as power outages and technical faults, making interruptions in service a recurring issue.
At present, hospital authorities have not provided any clear explanation regarding the exact reason behind the prolonged suspension of the CT scan facility. Meanwhile, questions are being raised over the apparent lack of monitoring and prompt intervention, despite the offices of the Chief Medical Officer and the Hospital Superintendent being located adjacent to the hospital premises.
Public anger continues to grow over the issue. Residents are questioning why no effective administrative action has been taken even after such an important emergency healthcare service remained closed for several days. The incident has once again sparked debate over the state of healthcare management and accountability within the district.
Now, all eyes are on the administration to see what immediate steps will be taken to restore the CT scan services and ease the suffering of patients.
