Diwali Special: Anirban Bhowmik's ‘Shyam Sundari Shyama’ Spreads the Message of Faith and Hope

As the spirit of Diwali celebrates the victory of light over darkness and strengthens the message of faith, hope and positivity, social media creator from Tripura, Anirban Bhowmik, has presented a special devotional music video titled ‘Shyam Sundari Shyama’. Officially released on November 3, ahead of Diwali, the ambitious project blends devotion to Goddess Shyama with the complexities of human emotions and life's uncertainties.

Conceptualised, scripted and directed by Bhowmik, the music video goes beyond conventional devotional presentations, exploring faith, relationships, emotional struggles and the unpredictable turns of life. Developed over nearly a year, the project was completed with an investment of over Rs 1 lakh, bringing together several independent artists and technicians from the region.

Bhowmik said the encouraging response to a Shyama Sangeet released during Diwali last year inspired the team to undertake a bigger and more challenging production this time. He believes that independent creators can compete with larger production houses through creative vision, quality storytelling and dedicated teamwork.

Inspired by filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's distinctive storytelling and portrayal of complex human emotions, Bhowmik wanted to create a narrative that reflects the realities of life rather than offering a predictable happy ending.

"Sometimes things fall apart, sometimes we lose, and sometimes we have to accept situations we cannot change. But life does not stop there. Life goes on," he said.

At its heart, ‘Shyam Sundari Shyama’ carries a message particularly relevant during Diwali: unwavering faith in God can provide inner strength during difficult times, helping people overcome setbacks and move forward with renewed hope.

The musical composition, vocals and direction are by Kishan Das, with lyrics by Ranajit Chakraborty. Tapas Dhar handled music production, mixing and mastering. Adarsh Ray managed cinematography, editing, colour grading and visual effects.

Expressing gratitude to the entire cast and crew, Bhowmik said the encouraging response and views received within 24 hours of release had boosted the team's confidence.

Through this Diwali offering, the team hopes to remind audiences that even amid life's uncertainties, faith remains a guiding light.
