For decades, Nripendra Chandra Saha has been a familiar figure in the streets of West Laxibill, bringing smiles to children by selling ice cream in front of local schools.
His daily routine, simple yet heartfelt, has been to make small joys possible for the neighborhood’s youngest residents.
However, time has taken its toll. With age, Nripendra’s physical strength has diminished, making it increasingly difficult for him to stand for long hours and continue selling ice cream. The rise of large branded ice creams in the market has further reduced demand for his homemade treats, leaving him struggling to earn a livelihood.
Despite these challenges, Nripendra continues to sell ice cream, doing his best to support his family and meet household responsibilities. Yet, financial insecurity has become a constant companion in his daily life.
Sadly, he has not received any government assistance so far. He has now appealed to the authorities for financial support or a pension to help him navigate this difficult phase of life with some relief.
Local residents are also voicing their concerns, urging the government to extend a helping hand to a man who has worked tirelessly for years, ensuring that his twilight years are at least a little more secure.
