An elderly widow has lodged a complaint with Amtali Police Station, alleging that she has been subjected to physical and mental abuse by her son and daughter-in-law for several years.

The incident reportedly took place in the Dakshin Badharghat Charipara area, near Navodiganta Club, under Amtali police station.

The woman, identified as Lakshmi Rani Sarkar, alleged that her son Sajal Sarkar and daughter-in-law Mousumi Das Sarkar have been repeatedly harassing and mistreating her.

According to her complaint, Lakshmi Rani’s husband, Khokon Sarkar, passed away around a decade ago. She claimed that the alleged harassment started after her son’s marriage and continued over the years.

She further alleged that the situation turned violent again on Tuesday, when she was allegedly beaten with a stick and dragged by her hair during an altercation. She also claimed that she was forced to leave her residence following the incident.

In a distressed state, Lakshmi Rani subsequently approached Amtali Police Station and sought immediate intervention from the authorities.

She has requested the police to conduct a proper investigation into the allegations and take necessary legal action if the charges are found to be true.
