A violent altercation in the Badharghat area of Agartala on Thursday night left several people injured and caused significant property damage, triggering concerns over law and order and allegations of political involvement.

According to reports, the incident occurred near Badharghat Stadium between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. when a large group of individuals allegedly entered a residence and became involved in a confrontation linked to a personal dispute that had reportedly been ongoing for some time.

Kaberi Sinha, an employee of the State Health Department, alleged that she returned home after accompanying her daughter to tuition classes and found another Health Department employee, Partha Chowdhury, being assaulted. She claimed that when she and her family members attempted to intervene, they too came under attack.

Family members stated that several individuals, including two women, sustained injuries during the incident. Some of the injured reportedly required medical treatment at nearby healthcare facilities.

The dispute is said to be connected to allegations surrounding a personal relationship involving Chowdhury, a matter that had reportedly been the subject of previous complaints lodged at different police stations.

In addition to the alleged assault, the family claimed that a car, multiple motorcycles, CCTV cameras, furniture, and other household items were damaged during the unrest. They also alleged that police personnel present at the scene failed to prevent further violence.

Questions have also been raised regarding the response of law enforcement authorities. Family members alleged that despite the seriousness of the incident, no immediate arrests were made and no formal action had been initiated against those accused of involvement.

The incident has generated tension in the locality, prompting the deployment of additional police personnel to maintain peace and prevent any further escalation. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the allegations, while residents await further developments in the case.
