The supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG across Tripura remains stable, with sufficient stock available to meet public demand, Special Secretary of the Food Department, Debapriya Bardhan, confirmed on Sunday.
Addressing a press conference at the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Public Distribution, Bardhan reassured citizens that there is no cause for concern regarding the availability of petroleum products. He stated that commercial LPG supply is currently operating at nearly 90 percent capacity.
Providing further insights into domestic LPG distribution, Bardhan noted that delivery timelines vary by location. In urban areas, consumers can expect delivery within 15 to 25 days of booking, while in rural regions, the waiting period extends to approximately 45 days.
He also explained the state’s supply network, highlighting that five districts receive LPG from the Bodhjangnagar bottling plant, while the remaining three districts depend on supplies transported from Silchar in Assam.
In addition, Bardhan revealed that Tripura currently has around 90,000 Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. Efforts are ongoing to expand PNG coverage and enhance accessibility in the near future.
To maintain transparency and ensure fair distribution, the government has strengthened its monitoring mechanisms. Strict vigilance is being enforced to prevent black marketing and hoarding of essential fuels, including LPG, petrol, and diesel.
“Continuous monitoring and proactive measures are in place to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply across the state,” Bardhan emphasized.
