In the age of Digital India, citizens of Sonamura are expressing deep frustration over the state of government services. For Aadhaar card corrections, people have been lining up as early as 4 a.m., long before sunrise, outside the Sonamura Office Tilla Aadhaar section.

Despite hours of waiting, most leave without getting their work done.

According to sources, only 36 Aadhaar correction applications are being processed each day. This forces hundreds of others to return the next day, often after waiting for more than seven hours in vain. The growing queues and repeated delays have sparked anger among residents.

Officials revealed that only one computer at the Aadhaar office is currently functional, while several other machines are out of order. The severe shortage of equipment and staff has drastically slowed down operations.

Although the Sub-Divisional Magistrate had earlier implemented strict measures to curb middlemen and improve services, the situation has once again deteriorated. Locals compare the long lines to those seen during elections or for ration distribution—only this time, it’s for something as basic as correcting official identity documents.

The crisis isn’t limited to Aadhaar services alone. Residents say other government documentation work at the same office faces similar delays. Even after earlier media reports led to temporary improvements, inefficiency has returned.

Angry citizens argue that such scenes are a disgrace in an era that claims to be digitally empowered. They have demanded immediate intervention and restoration of proper facilities to ensure smooth and fair public service.
