Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder on Thursday conducted an on-site inspection of the bypass road area adjacent to the Agartala–Akhaura India-Bangladesh international border.

The visit was undertaken to assess the drainage system and overall infrastructure in the area ahead of the monsoon season.

The inspection was attended by local corporator Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee, corporator Nitu De, Minority Development Corporation Chairman Jasim Uddin, former BJP state president Dr. Manoj Kanti Debray, the AMC Commissioner, and senior engineers and officials of the municipal corporation.

During the visit, the Mayor reviewed the current condition of the road and held detailed discussions with AMC officials regarding the challenges faced by local residents, particularly in terms of transportation, waterlogging, and road maintenance.

Officials examined the existing drainage network and identified areas requiring immediate attention to ensure smooth water discharge during heavy rainfall. The Mayor emphasized the need for timely infrastructure improvements to minimize inconvenience to residents living in the border area.

According to municipal authorities, the inspection is part of AMC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen civic infrastructure and improve public services before the peak monsoon period. Residents of the border region are expected to benefit from measures aimed at addressing persistent waterlogging and pothole-related problems.

The municipal corporation has assured that necessary steps will be taken to resolve the issues at the earliest, providing relief to commuters and local inhabitants alike.
