Acting on a credible tip-off, Pasighat Police conducted a raid at Hi-Tech Computer Shop, located near Patanjali Shop in the main market area of Pasighat town yesterday on 21st August.
During the operation, a total of 37 counterfeit HP cartridges were recovered and seized from the premises, Supt. of Police, Pasighat, Pankaj Lamba stated in a press release today.
As per the police, the equivalent original market value of the seized cartridges stands at approximately 2 Lakh 27 thousand. The raid was carried out by a team headed by Lady Inspector Ojum Riba along other staff from Pasighat Police Station, under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police, Pasighat, Sh. Pankaj Lamba, IPS and Officer-in-Charge, Pasighat PS, Atan Taki.
The shop, operated by one Irshad Hussain, was found to be engaged in the illegal sale of counterfeit cartridges. Accordingly, a case has 318(4)/349 been registered at Pasighat Police Station Case No. 67/25 under Section 63 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Section 51 and seller Hussain was arrested in connection with the case. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
The Superintendent police Lamba has commended the police team for their well-coordinated effort and urged members of the public to duly verify the authenticity of the branded products before any purchase. He also cautioned that the buying counterfeit goods not only results in financial loss to the consumers but also it supports illegal trade.
