Tipra Motha Party founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya has confirmed that his party will contest the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections on its own, without forming any alliances, including with the ruling BJP. The announcement came on Monday, emphasizing the party’s commitment to representing indigenous interests.
The TTAADC polls will be held on April 12 across 28 seats, with results expected on April 17. While Tipra Motha currently maintains an alliance with the BJP in the state assembly, Pradyot made it clear that this collaboration will not extend to the council elections.
Addressing supporters via Facebook Live, Pradyot stated, “I will never compromise the interests of my indigenous community by entering an alliance without guarantees or fulfillment of our demands under the Tiprasa Accord. My loyalty lies solely with my people. I will not betray them for political expediency.”
He added that despite criticism and opposition, Tipra Motha draws strength from the support of the poor indigenous population rather than wealth or political influence. “God will guide us, and it is the indigenous people who will determine our success. These elections are not merely political battles—they are a fight for the rights of our future generations. United, we are strong, and we are Tipra,” he said.
Pradyot called for unity among voters and urged them to focus on collective rights rather than disputes. He emphasized that the upcoming council polls will showcase the power and resolve of the indigenous community in Tripura.
