Founder of the Tipra Motha Party, Pradyot Kishor Manikya Debbarma, said on Tuesday that he met Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, and discussed key issues related to reforms in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) along with pending constitutional demands.
In a post shared on Facebook, Pradyot stated that he apprised the Governor of various proposals aimed at strengthening and restructuring the council. He also highlighted what he described as pending constitutional rights for the TTAADC, which, according to him, have not yet been extended as in other Sixth Schedule councils in the Northeast.
He further mentioned that he sought the Governor’s intervention in several matters, describing the Governor as the custodian of Sixth Schedule areas, and said the interaction was cordial and constructive.
“Met the Governor of Tripura and briefed him about our constitutional demands, which have not been granted to us unlike other councils in the Northeast. It was a pleasure interacting with him, and I requested his intervention in several matters as he is the custodian of the Sixth Schedule areas,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, elections to 28 TTAADC seats were held on April 12, with results declared on April 17. The Tipra Motha Party secured 24 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 4 seats.
