Academic activities at Sabroom Higher Secondary School were briefly interrupted on Saturday morning after unrest broke out over the transfer of a teacher.

Reports indicate that around 10:00 AM, a section of students and parents locked the main gate of the school and staged a protest. The demonstration was sparked by the recent transfer of in-charge teacher Pranab Das, carried out under the direction of the Education Department. A new teacher has since been assigned to the post, a move that did not sit well with some members of the school community.

Following the incident, personnel from Sabroom Police Station along with officials from the sub-divisional administration reached the spot promptly. They held discussions with the protesters to ease tensions and restore order on campus.

As part of the intervention, the school’s rear gate was opened to allow teachers to enter, followed by students who were willing to attend classes. Gradually, the situation stabilized and normal teaching resumed.

Authorities later ensured that the main gate was also reopened.

Officials stated that the transfer decision was made in accordance with departmental guidelines, and the teacher concerned has been directed to report to the new posting. They further added that any reports of misconduct or violations of law in connection with the protest would be examined, and necessary steps would be taken accordingly.
