In Agartala, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has made serious allegations against the Tipra Motha Party-led Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) administration.
On Sunday, a BJP delegation met Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and sought an investigation into alleged irregularities, including secretive recruitment during the election period and long-standing lapses in financial auditing.
The delegation, which included former MP Rebati Tripura, state BJP general secretary Bipin Debbarma, MLA Pramod Reang, and former District Council members Bhumika Nanda Reang and Bimal Kanti Chakma, submitted a memorandum requesting the Governor’s intervention. They urged him to verify the claims and initiate corrective steps for the benefit of residents in the TTAADC regions.
In their memorandum, BJP leaders alleged that the TTAADC administration in Khumulwng had been involved in large-scale corruption, including misappropriation of public funds and misuse of project allocations throughout its tenure.
They further claimed that during the election period, the administration hurriedly appointed a significant number of Group-C and Group-D employees without following proper procedures or public notification. According to them, these actions violated established norms and principles of fairness and were linked to corrupt practices involving money exchange for jobs.
The BJP also accused the council of failing to conduct mandatory financial audits over the years, leading to a breakdown in financial discipline and misuse of public resources across various services. They pointed out that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India had also flagged concerns and advised the state government to take corrective action.
The delegation has requested a formal inquiry into the matter to determine the facts and ensure appropriate measures are taken in the interest of people living in the TTAADC areas.
