A major anti-narcotics operation was carried out along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura, where law enforcement agencies seized a large quantity of Yaba tablets. The joint operation involved Tripura Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) during a late-night patrol near the Srimantapur border road in Sepahijala district.

According to Sonamura Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Tapas Das, the team noticed suspicious black packets abandoned along the roadside during routine surveillance. Upon closer examination, the packets were found to contain Yaba tablets.

Officials recovered around 1 kilogram of the drug, which had been divided into 50 small packets, each holding approximately 200 tablets. In total, nearly 10,000 Yaba tablets were seized, with an estimated street value of Rs 5 lakh.

A case has been registered, and authorities have begun an investigation to trace those responsible for the smuggling attempt. Initial suspicions suggest the consignment was meant for illegal distribution within the region.
