Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury chaired an important review meeting on Thursday to assess the state’s preparedness for the effective implementation of the “PM Rahat” scheme, aimed at providing immediate medical assistance to road accident victims.
The minister said the scheme ensures that victims of road accidents are quickly transported to hospitals and receive assured medical treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh per person.
The review meeting brought together senior officials from multiple departments, including the Secretaries of the Health and Transport Departments, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, and other high-ranking officials. The meeting focused on reviewing the overall preparedness of the state, addressing key issues, and strengthening coordination among the concerned departments.
During the meeting, discussions were held on improving emergency response mechanisms, ensuring faster transportation of accident victims to hospitals, and streamlining inter-departmental cooperation for the successful execution of the scheme.
Minister Chowdhury emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between the health, transport, and police departments to ensure that road accident victims receive timely and effective medical care under the PM Rahat initiative.
