A protest erupted at the morning section of Kanchanbari Dhansingh Chowdhury English Medium Memorial Primary HS School in Kumarghat subdivision on Thursday, with students and parents demanding the immediate appointment of more teachers.
The protesters alleged that nearly 400 students are enrolled in the morning section, but only four teachers are currently available to conduct classes. They claimed that the shortage has severely affected regular teaching and learning activities at the school.
Parents alleged that the teacher shortage has persisted for a long time, but no effective steps have been taken to address the issue. On Thursday morning, students and parents gathered on the school premises and staged a protest demanding adequate teacher appointments.
As the protest intensified, the demonstrators reportedly locked the main entrance gate of the school. They later blocked the Kumarghat-Kanchanpur main road near the school, raising slogans and demanding immediate action from the authorities.
The protesting parents demanded that sufficient teachers be appointed at the earliest to restore a normal academic environment at the school. They also warned that the agitation would continue until a permanent solution to the teacher shortage is found.
