A 15-year-old boy, who was brought to Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital in a critical condition after a suicide attempt, has made a complete recovery thanks to the prompt intervention and dedicated efforts of the hospital’s Emergency Medicine Department.

On August 21, the teenager was referred from Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital in a life-threatening condition.

He arrived at the emergency unit of AGMC and GBP Hospital unconscious, and doctors immediately began emergency lifesaving procedures.

A CT scan later revealed brain damage, following which specialist doctors initiated intensive treatment and shifted the boy to the Yellow Zone of the Emergency Ward for close monitoring. Under continuous observation and treatment, the patient gradually regained consciousness, began responding, and eventually started speaking after three days.

By August 25, the teenager had fully recovered and was discharged in stable condition.

The medical team, led by Dr. Shirshendu Dhar, In-charge Emergency Medicine Specialist, included Dr. Subrata Bhowmik, Assistant Professor of Medicine; Dr. Sayantika Saha, Emergency Medical Officer; Dr. Prashant Tripura, Post Graduate Trainee; along with a dedicated team of nurses and health workers.

The boy’s family expressed deep gratitude to the doctors and hospital staff for saving his life.
