The statewide bandh in Tripura, originally planned for October 13, 2025, has been postponed to October 23, 2025, following appeals from citizens to avoid disrupting Diwali celebrations, Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma announced today.
Speaking at a press conference, Debbarma said that the Tripura Civil Society, which had initially called for a 13-hour bandh to press eight charter points of demand, decided to defer the strike after requests from bonafide citizens, intellectuals, and local communities. The revised bandh will now last 24 hours.
Debbarma assured that all emergency and essential services—including ambulances, fire services, police, judiciary, and utility vehicles—will remain fully operational during the strike.
The MLA outlined the main objectives of the bandh, which include:
Identification of illegal foreign migrants as per Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines.
Construction of detention camps in every district.
Formation of a Special Task Force with BSF and Assam Rifles personnel.
Implementation of the Inner Line Permit system in Tripura to curb illegal infiltration.
Early enforcement of the Tri-Partite Tiprasa Accord.
Official recognition of the Roman script for writing the Kokborok language.
Cancellation of fraudulent Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe certificates.
Prompt implementation of the Tri-Partite Agreement signed on September 4, 2024, between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and ATTF-NLFT.
Debbarma urged the people of Tripura to participate peacefully and assured that daily necessities and essential services would remain unaffected during the 24-hour strike.
