Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha today stressed the need for timely completion of urban development projects while ensuring high-quality execution, proper upkeep, and continuous monitoring after their completion.
Chairing a review meeting at the war room of his official residence (TIFT), the Chief Minister said that officials must work with greater efficiency to ensure faster delivery of citizen services. He reviewed the progress of various ongoing projects under the Urban Development Department and urban local bodies.
During the meeting, Dr. Saha instructed officials to expedite key projects under TUDA, including the Junction Gate project in Agartala. He also directed that the Lighthouse Project at the Akhaura border be completed at the earliest.
Emphasizing improvements in public health infrastructure, the Chief Minister asked for swift completion of the upcoming city hospital so that residents can benefit from better healthcare services. He also reviewed plans for installing CCTV cameras across urban areas to strengthen security and modernize surveillance systems.
Dr. Saha further directed that safety measures be enhanced by installing railings along footpaths to reduce accidents and ensure pedestrian safety. He also reviewed the riverfront development work of the Gomati River in Udaipur and instructed regular maintenance of pump houses, along with the construction of additional units wherever required.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that construction of pink toilets across 20 urban areas is nearing completion. He also advised the Agartala Municipal Corporation to ensure proper disposal or recycling of idols after puja in an environmentally responsible manner.
He laid strong emphasis on maintaining regular door-to-door garbage collection and strengthening solid waste management systems across urban areas.
The meeting also reviewed several major initiatives, including the Mukhyamantri Urban Development Project, Satellite Township Project, AMRUT 2.0, Asian Development Bank-assisted schemes, Smart City Mission, City Beautification works, and SASCI projects.
Dr. Saha reiterated that timely completion of public welfare projects with strict quality standards reflects the administration’s commitment to the people.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Urban Development Secretary Milind Ramteke, Finance Secretary Apurba Roy, Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Wahid A., Urban Development Department Director Megha Jain, Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority Commissioner Mihir Kanti Gop, along with other senior officials.
