Senior Congress leader and Tripura MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Sunday launched a strong criticism of the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging economic mismanagement, weak foreign policy, and a “decline in national talent retention.”

He was addressing an executive meeting of newly elected representatives of the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress at the Agartala Students Health Home.

Barman said the current condition of the country was “not satisfactory,” claiming that the economy was facing instability and that India’s foreign policy had “failed to deliver results.” He also remarked that citizens are gradually realizing the consequences of earlier electoral choices.

He further alleged that the central leadership was overly influenced by external powers, stating that the Prime Minister was acting in line with positions taken by foreign leaders, including the US President.

The Congress MLA also accused the BJP-led government of failing to represent the interests of ordinary citizens. He urged party workers to raise awareness among people and emphasized the need to strengthen the Youth Congress through greater unity and participation.

Referring to the recent NEET examination paper leak controversy, Barman alleged that there is a situation where “merit and talent are being compromised,” adding that money and corruption are overshadowing fairness in the system. He called on young people to actively step forward to “protect the country’s future.”

The meeting was attended by Youth Congress members and senior leaders, including All India Youth Congress in-charge Manish Sharma, Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, and Youth Congress in-charge Zeesan Ahmed, among others.

The session primarily focused on strengthening the party organization and mobilizing youth ahead of upcoming electoral battles, with an emphasis on countering the ruling BJP’s political narrative.
