The Tripura government has rolled out a fresh set of measures to strengthen healthcare facilities at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and Govinda Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital, reaffirming its commitment to quality medical services for the people of the state.
In a meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samity (RKS) governing body held yesterday at the Council Hall of AGMC, several key decisions were finalized.
To ease access for underprivileged patients, new counters will be opened to provide free diagnostic services to beneficiaries under schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, Priority Group, Antyodaya, and BPL categories.
The central laboratory at AGMC will soon undergo modernization with advanced testing equipment to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Additionally, urgent procurement of medicines for Trauma Care, Emergency, and the Pediatric Department will be taken up through untied funds from the National Health Mission (NHM).
In an effort to increase transparency and patient engagement, complaint and suggestion boxes will be installed throughout the hospital campus, allowing patients and attendants to share feedback directly. To assist visitors, ten civil service volunteers will also be deployed at the “May I Help You” desk of AGMC.
The meeting was chaired by MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Chairperson of RKS. Vice-Chairman Dr. Ashok Sinha, members Tushar Kanti Bhattacharya and Hiralal Debnath, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumder, GBP Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, and AGMC Principal Dr. Anup Kumar Saha were among the key officials present.
A press release from the Health Department stated that these initiatives are part of the state government’s broader mission to modernize healthcare infrastructure and ensure better patient care at Tripura’s premier medical institute.
