In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Mungiakami police station in Tripura has seized approximately 580 kilograms of cannabis, valued at around Rs 1 crore, and arrested one individual in connection with the case.
According to police sources, traffickers were using two vehicles to transport the drugs while attempting to avoid detection. One vehicle was disguised with a press sticker, while the other displayed a telecom company sticker.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted operations in Champlai Bari and North Maharani under the supervision of SDPO Rohon Kisan IPS and led by the Officer-in-Charge of Mungiakami Police Station. DCM Surajit Debbarma also visited the locations to monitor the raids.
“Following legal procedures, the vehicles were searched, and around 580 kilograms of marijuana were recovered. One person has been arrested under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act,” police said.
The seized cannabis and vehicles have been brought to the police station, and authorities estimate the market value of the drugs at roughly Rs 1 crore. Investigations are ongoing to identify whether other individuals are part of the trafficking network.
