Tripura is poised to strengthen its nursing education infrastructure with the inauguration of a dedicated Auxiliary Nurse and Midwifery (ANM) school building at Durjoynagar in Agartala within the next two months.
Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, accompanied by senior officials from the Health Department, inspected the newly constructed facility to assess its readiness ahead of its formal launch.
Speaking after the visit, Gitte said the state government is working towards establishing a comprehensive nursing education campus in line with the vision of Chief Minister Manik Saha. The new facility will accommodate multiple nursing institutions, including existing nursing colleges and training schools, under one campus.
He noted that the building construction has already been completed by the Public Works Department (PWD), and preparations are underway for its operationalization. The campus will house nursing training institutes, diploma-level courses, and modern hostel facilities for students.
According to the Health Secretary, the infrastructure has been designed with future expansion in mind, allowing the government to add more facilities as demand grows. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the state's commitment to enhancing healthcare education and producing a skilled nursing workforce to meet the rising healthcare needs of the population.
Once inaugurated, the institutions currently functioning from other locations will be shifted to the new campus, creating a centralized hub for nursing education and training in the state.
