In a significant step toward strengthening rural livelihoods and digital inclusion, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) is developing a mobile-friendly application named “Saral App” to cater to the diverse market needs of Self-Help Group (SHG) members, popularly known as “Didis.”
Currently, TRLM operates around 80 Livelihood Support Centers (LSCs) across the state. These centers function as small warehouses and retail outlets, managed by SHG members themselves, supplying essential inputs and raw materials required for farm-based and other livelihood activities. They play a crucial role in ensuring last-mile access to resources for rural women.
The upcoming Saral App aims to digitally connect these Livelihood Support Centers with SHG members and even local villagers. Through the platform, users will be able to browse and purchase necessary inputs and raw materials online, making the procurement process more efficient and accessible.
In addition to SHG members, Producer Groups under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) will also benefit from the app. These groups often require bulk raw materials and inputs, and the app is expected to streamline their sourcing process while reducing delays.
Officials believe that the Saral App will not only simplify access to essential goods but also significantly enhance the trade volume of Livelihood Support Centers.
By expanding their customer base and enabling digital transactions, the initiative is expected to improve profit margins and create sustainable economic opportunities for rural women entrepreneurs.
The Saral App marks a forward-looking initiative by TRLM, blending grassroots enterprise with digital innovation, and reinforcing its commitment to empowering SHG women across Tripura.
