The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council has introduced new austerity measures to reduce government expenditure in response to rising fuel and energy costs.
As per an official order issued under U.O. No. 47/ADC/CEM/2026 dated 14 May 2026, the Council has revised its working pattern. Employees will now be required to attend office physically for three days a week—Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On the remaining working days (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, excluding 2nd and 4th Saturdays), staff will operate under a work-from-home arrangement.
The decision aligns with the broader appeal made by Narendra Modi encouraging institutions and citizens to conserve fuel and adopt remote working wherever possible.
During work-from-home days, employees must remain reachable via phone and electronic communication and be available to handle official duties or urgent matters whenever required. Additionally, staff are restricted from leaving their station without prior approval from the competent authority.
The order also highlights an environmental initiative, stating that the Council will prioritize the use and hiring of electric vehicles for official transportation whenever necessary.
These directives will not apply to personnel engaged in essential or emergency services. The new system will come into effect from 16 May 2026 and will remain valid until further notice.
